Dr. Lale Guler is an associate clinical professor at McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Her expertise is in corporate reporting. Her research interests include corporate governance, sustainable finance, and gender diversity in organizations. In 2015, she has been awarded the Deloitte Best Paper Award at an international business conference for her study which documented that firms can reduce the negative impact of managerial incentives on M&A outcomes by implementing a powerful governance tool, a clawback provision, in their executive compensation contracts. Recipient of the 2018 AAA outstanding reviewer award, Lale currently studies climate risk, sustainable finance, gender diversity and other Enviromental Social and Governance (ESG) issues in organizations. Prior to joining UT Austin, she served as an assistant professor at Baruch College, and Koc University where she won the 2015 Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence. She earned her Ph.D. at Texas A&M University.

TEACHING

Lale teaches a financial reporting and analysis class, designed primarily for the finance majors at UT Austin. She uses insights from her research in corporate decision-making to equip her students with skills to become better decision makers. Her classes help students develop critical thinking and communication skills. Her students consistently report that they are inspired to learn more after taking her class. She finds diligent students as a great source of inspiration in her pursuit of academic excellence.
